GPRD 2024 Report

The 15th Glasgow Paediatric Research day was held on Friday 8th November 20243 at the Queen Elizabeth Teaching and Learning Centre, and co-incided with the centenary of the Samson Gemmell Chair of Child Health.

The programme comprised of 18 short oral presentations and 20 posters selected from reviewed abstracts.

An invited speakers' plenary session on "Academic Paediatrics, Past, Present and Future" was co-chaired by Dr Helen McDevitt and Dr Ross Langley, and featured presentations from Professor Lawrence Weaver, Professor S. Faisal Ahmed and Professor Chris Halsey.

Prize Winners

  • 1st Prize Oral communication awarded to Aya Gouma, Wolfson Wohl Cancer Research Centre, School of Cancer Sciences, University of Glasgow, for her presentation on "Toll Like Receptors role in senescence and chemotherapy resistance in paediatric Acute Myeloid Leukaemia"
  • Runner up Oral communication awarded to Konstantinos Gkikas, Human Nutrition, School of Medicine, Dentistry & Nursing, University of Glasgow, for his presentation on "High faecal pH and low total microbial load associate with normalisation of faecal calprotectin in children with Crohn’s disease treated with exclusive enteral nutrition; results from iPENS, a multicentre, prospective study"
  • 1st Prize Poster awarded to Ho Zhe Qian, School of Medicine, Dentistry & Nursing, University of Glasgow, for her poster on "The Spectrum of clinical severity of mild haemophilia A and B paediatric patients in Royal Hospital of Sick Children"
  • Runner-Up Poster awarded to Madonna ElToukhy, Wolfson Wohl Cancer Research Centre, School of Cancer Sciences, University of Glasgow, for her poster on "KMT2A-rearranged paediatric acute myeloid leukaemia has a unique immunophenotypic profile that dynamically changes upon disease progression”

 

RCPCH approved this activity for CPD in accordance with RCPCH CPD Guidelines

 

Certificates of attendance are issued following completion of the short webropol feedback survey.
