Glasgow Paediatric Research Day 2023
The 14th Glasgow Paediatric Research Day will be held on Friday 3rd November 2023, in the Teaching & Learning Centre, located on the Royal Hospital for Children and Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Campus, 1345 Govan Road, Glasgow.
This year will see a welcome return to this event being held in person, providing an opportunity for networking and showcasing research projects. The programme includes 16 oral presentations and 32 posters selected from submitted abstracts.
The invited speakers' plenary session on, Success and Challenges in Genomic Medicine, will be hosted by Dr Ruth McGowan, Consultant Clinical Geneticist, Royal Hospital for Childen, Glasgow and will feature the following presentations:
- The DDD study: Genomic Diagnosis of Rare Paediatric Disease in the United Kingdom and Ireland - Professor Helen Firth, Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust
- Rapid genetic testing in neonates to avoid antibiotic hearing loss - Professor Bill Newman, Manchester Centre from Genomic Medicine
- Diagnostic trio-based whole exome sequencing for severe developmental disorders in Scotland - Dr Morad Ansari, Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine, Edinburgh
- Rapid exome sequencing for prenatal diagnosis : lessons learnt from the English NHS Genomic Medicine Service - Dr Rhiannon Mellis, West of Scotland Centre for Genomic Medicine, Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow
