From Prof NC Craig Sharp; BVMS 1951-56; Vet School Staff Member 1956-69 who writes
"Sir Robert Muir wrote his classic 'Textbook of Pathology' in 1924 (still in its recent editions known as 'Muir's Pathology'). He was Professor of Pathology, based at the Western Infirmary, and at his farewell event there were over 30 Professors of Pathology, all of whom had been in his department. 'Muir' was the UK Pathology textbook for decades .. As a veterinary pathologist I simply used to go to the Western Path dept for their Wednesday histopathology sessions - with Bill Jarrett, who had been trained there. But Sir Robert Muir made the Western's Path dept one of the great departments of its type in Europe".
