Glasgow Dental Alumni Association
Glasgow Dental Alumnus Association
The Glasgow Dental Alumnus Association (GDAA) was established in 1979 and played a major role in the fund-raising activities for the West of Scotland Postgraduate Dental Centre, as well as hosting social and academic events. For a variety of reasons the GDAA became dormant in 2004, but this year it is re-emerging as an active and vibrant Association with strong support from the University of Glasgow.
In March 2014 Glasgow Dental School held a Research Evening in the Wolfson Medical School Building on University Avenue, which was co-hosted with the GDAA. The event aimed to update Alumni on Glasgow Dental Schools’ current research and how it is impacting upon the health of patients. At the end of the evening the guests had the chance to meet the clinicians, scientists and students who are involved in the research at the informal poster presentations and drinks reception that followed. This event, the first held by the GDAA for 10 years, was a great success.
A small GDAA Steering Committee has now been established, under the chairmanship of David Still, GDAA President, which will oversee development of a programme to ensure the Association will maintain and build upon the momentum that has been created with this first event. You can keep abreast of these developments by visiting these pages. Alumni development is flourishing at the Dental School under the direction of William McLean (Lead for Alumni Relations and Fund-raising) and has seen the re-introduction of the Dental Mirror (available in the Alumni section of the Dental School website) and Class Reunion events. If you have missed some of this news over the past year and wish to be included in future mailings for the Dental Mirror or Alumni Events please contact Pamela Gibb at pamela.gibb@glasgow.ac.uk.
