Magnetic Topology
Magnetic topology is the study of magnetic field complexity through the application of ideas from topology. The influence of topology on MHD enters through the choice of domain (e.g. a tokamak) or through the connectivity of field lines. Magnetic topology can aid our understanding of many important phenomena, such as magnetic relaxation, the nature of emerging magnetic fields in the solar atmosphere and the onset of solar flares.
