Details of various talks and conferences staff within the School have given and attended
Dr Andy Baker gave a talk in the University of Kent Algebra, Geometry and Topology Seminar, “Working with the Steenrod algebra - an algebraic introduction”.
Andy also visited the University of Regensburg for a week in mid-April and gave an SFB Higher Invariants seminar “Calculating with small cell kO and tmf modules”.
Prof Adrian Bowman attended the launch in the House of Lords, on Thursday 26th April, of a report on knowledge exchange in the mathematical sciences. The report, entitled the "Era of Mathematics", is available at the following link https://epsrc.ukri.org/newsevents/pubs/era-of-maths/.
Prof Dirk Husmeier gave two invited talks in Bariloche, Argentina. The first, on quantitative ecology at Laboratorio ECOTONO on Thursday 22nd March, and the second on statistical inference in complex physical systems at Centro Atómico on Monday 28th March.
Prof Marian Scott gave a lecture in the Rothamsted Seminar Series on Monday 19th March, entitled “The Environmental data deluge sinking or swimming”.
Dr Peter Stewart presented his recent research on Retinal Haemorrhage at the annual meeting of the British Association of Ocular Pathology, held at UCL on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th April
Dr Colin Torney and his research assistant Mr Mark Chevallier gave a training workshop on “Computer Vision with Machine Learning and Python” at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) in Arusha, Tanzania, from Monday 26th to Thursday 29th March.
