Details of various talks and conferences staff within the School have given and attended
Andy Baker attended the Alpine Algebraic and Applied Topology Conference which took place from 15th to 21st August at Saas-Almagell in Switzerland, then travelled down the Rhine to Nijmegen and gave a seminar at Radboud University later that same month.
Andy also attended the 100th Transpennine Topology Triangle Meeting in Manchester which took place on 6th and 7th September.
Tereza Neocleous gave a keynote talk on forensic statistics at the 25th conference of the International Association for Forensic Phonetics and Acoustics, which took place in York from 24th to 27th July.
Peter Stewart attended the “Workshop on Quantitative Modelling of Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)” at the University of Oxford from 19th to 21st September.
Stuart White presented the work on his joint paper “Quasidiagonality of nuclear C*-algebras” with Aaron Tikuisis and Wilhelm Winter at a number of conferences including the 40th Annual Irish Mathematical Society meeting in Dublin on 15th and 16th April, the 14th Annual Spring Institute on Noncommutative Geometry and Operator Algebras in Bonn from 17th to 25th May, the Groups, Dynamics, and Operator Algebras conference in London from 18th to 22nd July and finally the C*-Algebras workshop in Oberwolfach from 21st to 27th August.
Joachim Zacharias and Stuart White gave a 10-hour lecture series as part of “Non-commutative geometry: The next generation”, in Poland from 4th to 10th September, setting out recent progress in the structure and classification of amenable C*-algebras.
