Successes of students within the School
Carnegie and LMS Undergraduate Vacation Scholarships
Congratulations to Lavinia Bulai who has received funding from the LMS for summer research supervised by Brendan Owens. The LMS funded 20 projects across the UK this year from a total of 107 applications.
Congratulations to Scott Dallas and Ewan Murray (3H Maths) who will be doing research this summer funded by the Carnegie Trust. For the second year in a row, the school has had a 100% success rate in our applications for these prestigious summer scholarships. This success reflects the quality of our undergraduate students and also of the research projects proposed to them by staff, in this case Christina Cobbold and Steve Roper.
Mobility Funding from the College Graduate School
Duncan McCoy (PhD student in Geometry and Topology) has recently been travelling in the US, supported by Mobility Funding from the College Graduate School with supplementary funding from the School. Duncan was mainly based in University of Texas, Austin, but has done quite a bit of travelling: in the course of 6 weeks he has given seminar talks on his research in Michigan State University, UT Austin, UCLA, CalTech and Boston College.
Bulletin of the Canadian Mathematics Society
Joseph MacColl, a finishing 4th year student who carried out a vacation scholarship project with Liam Watson, has had his paper accepted to Bulletin of the Canadian Mathematics Society.
