Solving big data challenges from modern science through statistical modelling
Mayetri Gupta and Surajit Ray co-organised an international workshop at ICMS, Edinburgh which was held between Tuesday 5th and Friday 8th May 2015, entitled "Solving big data challenges from modern science through statistical modelling". The event was well attended and there were a number of participants from the School who presented their work. Further details can be found on the website.

Bonn-Cologne Algebra Seminar
Ghislain Fourier is organizing the Bonn-Cologne Algebra Seminar to be held on 16th June. This is a seminar organized once a year; three mathematicians are invited to present their current work to the joint algebra working groups of Bonn and Cologne (and anyone else who is interested). The invited speakers this year are Peter Fiebig (Uo Erlangen-Nürnberg), Benjamin Klopsch (Uo Düsseldorf) and Olivier Schiffmann (Uo Orsay, CNRS).
