Prof Adrian Bowman and Prof John McColl recently achieved 30 years’ service with the University. A College Awards Ceremony was held in December 2016 to mark the occasion. 

Prof Tara Brendle was shortlisted for “Best College Teacher” in Science and Engineering at the annual Student Teaching Awards that took place on Thursday 23rd March. Although Tara did not win, the nomination is testament to hard work being carried out within the School, which is obviously noted by the students.

Dr Radostin Simitev has been elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (FIMA) and awarded a Chartered Mathematician (CMath) designation.

Dr Peter Stewart has been awarded an EPSRC First Grant for his work on the fluid mechanics of the eye. The grant is entitled “Elastic jumps on networks; Quantifying patterns of retinal haemorrhage”.
