‌Welcome to this April 2017 edition of the School newsletter.

‌‌This is a very significant month for the School because it marks the completion of the move to our new building. Over the past two weeks, quite a number of staff have had the opportunity to see inside the building and feedback has been very positive. The removal of the whole School, office by office, into our new home over a very short period will be a challenging exercise but there has been a great deal of careful preparation, with the aim of making the transition as smooth as possible. If any questions over the arrangements remain, please speak to Hannah, who is doing an excellent job in co-ordinating a very large amount of detail on this.

‌Appointments of staff are always major events and several posts are in the process of being filled. Sira Gratz and Greg Stevenson have both recently been appointed to lectureship in pure mathematics. We look forward to welcoming them to the School over the next few months. Interviews for two lectureships in applied mathematics took place last week and discussions with preferred candidates are well underway. We also hope to be able to appoint a Lord Kelvin Adam Smith Fellow in the very near future. These are all exciting developments.

The items in the Newsletter give an indication of the enormous breadth and variety of activity which is undertaken by members of the School. I hope you will enjoy reading them as much as I did.
