Integrable Systems Workshop - Scottish branch

This year the School will host the Integrable Systems workshop on 11th and 12th March 2016. This is one of a series of meetings funded by the LMS which we host once every two years (alternating with Edinburgh). We are one of the nodes of the LMS Integrable Systems network with other nodes being in Edinburgh, Leeds and Loughborough.

2nd Annual Scottish Combinatorics Meeting 

The second annual Scottish Combinatorics meeting will be held in the School in late April - exact dates to be confirmed soon.  Provisional speakers are Michael Fellows (Bergen), Frances Rosamond (Bergen), Marthe Bonamy (LaBRI Bordeaux), Colin McDiarmid (Oxford), Ben Sach (Bristol), Mark Dukes (Strathclyde), Jessica Enright (Stirling) and Sophie Huczynska (St Andrews).  More details will be circulated nearer the time; in the meantime, feel free to contact Dr Kitty Meeks with any questions.

UKMHD 2016 – the annual conference for MHD research

The 2016 UK MHD meeting will be organized by Drs Radostin Simitev and David MacTaggart and Prof David Fearn. The conference will be held within our School and further information will be provided in due course.

SofTMech launch

The launch event for the new SofTMech Centre will be held in teh Hilton Grosvenor Hotel on Thursday 21st April 2016.

Environmental Statistics & data Analytics training - Part II

The NERC supported training course, “Environmental Statistics & data Analytics training - Part II” was held in the School from 5th to 8th January 2016. Participants from all over the UK (mostly PhD students) enjoyed training sessions on three different statistical topics: flexible regression methods, spatio-temporal modelling and functional data analysis.
