Viva success

Congratulations to the following students who have recently successfully defended their thesis:

Khuneswari Pillay successfully defended her thesis on November 3rd. Khuneswari's research was on model selection and averaging in the presence of missing values. She was supervised by John McColl.

Weiwei Chen successfully defended her thesis on November 20th. Weiwei's research was on modelling the circulation for a human heart. She was supervised by Nicholas A Hill and Xiaoyu Luo.

Abdullah Al-Omir successfully defended his thesis on November 24th. Abdullah's research was on the experience of teaching statistics to non-specialist students in Saudi Arabian universities. He was supervised by John McColl.

Lei Wang successfully defended his thesis on November 24th. Lei's research was on modelling aortic dissection using the finite element methods. He was supervised by Nicholas A Hill, Xiaoyu Luo and Steven Roper.

University Challenge - update

Having been unsuccessful in the first round, the four highest-scoring losers get a second chance to make it to round two. Playing against St Peter's College, Oxford, the team from Glasgow performed very well and made it through to the next round.
