Tomorrow's Mathematicians Today 2016

On 13th February, five Level 4 Mathematics students – Jacob Bennett-Woolf, Filip Brakl, Vitalijs Brejevs, Scott Dallas and Demetra Vasiliou – took part in Tomorrow's Mathematicians Today 2016 undergraduate conference held at University of Greenwich in London.

Jacob, Demetra and Vitalijs gave presentations based on their summer or Level 4 projects, with Vitalijs also in contention for the GCHQ prize awarded to the best presentation. The overall scope and standard of talks was impressive, introducing the participants to a wide array of mathematics at an accessible level, with the excellent keynote talk by bestselling author and category theorist Dr Eugenia Cheng concluded the conference on an exciting note. Though Vitalijs narrowly missed out on the prize, the conference still was a valuable experience for all five students, allowing establishing new connections with other Mathematics students and giving a glimpse into the world of academic conferences.

More information about the conference is available on their website.
