Mathematically Modelling Self-Generated Chemotactic Gradients
Peter Mortensen
Friday 12th May, 2017 16:00-17:00 Seminar room 3rd floor
Abstract
Melanoma cells, and possibly many other cells, spread out using self-generated chemotactic gradients. This talk will discuss the use of biased random walk models to model the travelling waves that arise from the process of self-generated chemotactic gradients. This will include theory of Michaelis-Menten kinetics, random walk theory and the solving the subsequent PDEs. This is based on research conducted at the Beatson Institute of Cancer Research
