Abstract
We introduce the theory of tilings with a particular view towards examples exhibiting remarkable symmetry despite a lack of regular order in their structure. We will consider a dynamical system formed from such tilings and get a glimpse into the topology of tiling spaces. We also explore a particular method used to generate highly ordered yet aperiodic tilings. Finally, we aim to make precise the notion of "aperiodic order" and provide an indication of the physical applications of the theory to the study of quasicrystals.
