Electron magneto-hydrodynamics in a neutron star crust

Abstract
Neutron stars have magnetic fields of up to 10^16 Gauss -- the strongest in the Universe -- which are supported by electric currents in the star's solid outer "crust". This field plays a central role in all the observable phenomena of pulsars, including glitches, flares, spindown, and surface temperature anomalies. This talk will present recent analytical and numerical results concerning the magneto-hydrodynamics of the crust, and the implications for neutron star observations.
