Abstract
This talk is about three-manifolds with torus boundary. I will explain how to view certain invariants as immersed curves in a (marked) torus; and how to interpret intersection of such curves as an invariant of closed three-manifolds obtained by gluing. This starts out by relying on what seems to be a special class of three-manifolds, but I'll try to explain why it really is the right way to view bordered invariants — in the torus boundary setting — in general. This is joint work with Jonathan Hanselman and Jake Rasmussen.
