Abstract
It is a well-known phenomenon of 4-dimensional topology that the smooth and topological slice genera of knots can differ. However, for two-bridge knots this difference is not particularly well understood. For example, although the smoothly slice two-bridge knots have been classified by Lisca, it is still unknown whether these also account for all topologically slice 2-bridge knots. I will discuss joint work with Peter Feller in which we find the first examples of 2-bridge knots with differing smooth and topological slice genera.
