Abstract
In this talk I will explain a well-known construction of the coarse Baum-Connes assembly
map and give a brief overview of certain counterexamples to the coarse assembly isomorphism
problem. Rephrasing this setup in terms of a conjecture for topological groupoids, I will outline
homological proofs of many of the counterexample statements in the literature. Additionally, I will
sketch a method of proof for a related conjecture and use this to say something positive for Gromov monster groups - the groups that coarsely contain expander graphs.
