Testing the curvature of braid groups

Abstract

• Not many methods are known for testing whether simplicial complexes are CAT(\kappa). A new idea will be presented that possibly may lead to a better understanding of curvature properties of non-convex subcomplexes of spherical buildings. The  close connection between braid groups, non-crossing partitions and their orthoscheme complexes and the embeddability of the diagonal links of these complexes into spherical buildings of type A, will be used to show that braid groups with at most 6 strands are CAT(0).
