Tame subsets of spheres

Abstract

A subset V of the unit sphere S^n-1 is called m-tame if every subset of V containing m or fewer points is contained in an open hemisphere. I will discuss the group theoretic motivation for this condition and give some results about n-tame subsets of S^n-1. This is joint work with Bieri and Kropholler.
