On Nim, and its application in game theory
Neil Fullarton
Friday 7th October, 2011 16:00-17:00 Mathematics Building, room 516
Abstract
Nim is a well-studied object in the field of game theory. I will give an outline of the rules, discuss and prove Nim's 'winning strategy', and attempt to convey the importance of Nim in game theory as a whole via the Sprague-Grundy theorem. Audience members will be invited to play some rounds of Nim (and other games). There shall (perhaps) be prizes for the winners.
