Abstract
A smoothly embedded surface in 4-dimensional space can be examined using hyperplane cross-sections. These generally give knots or links. The cases where the surface is a sphere, or an unknotted sphere, are of particular interest. This talk will describe how these cross-sections can be used to reconstruct the surfaces and some examples of the knots and links which can arise in this way.
