Abstract
The talk ranges over the application of computational commutative algebra to statistics, principally in discrete probability models, such as Bayes graphical models and in the design of experiments. Special emphasis is given to the application of the minimal free resolution of monomial ideals in both areas and also in obtaining tight discrete probability Bonferroni-Choquet bounds. The main tools, in the latter, are the Hilbert series and multi-graded Betti numbers.
