Abstract

My aim is to convince you that there is a definite link between art and mathematics. I'll talk about areas in art such as the use of perspective, the use of proportion in classical architecture and sculpture, and for example the works of Escher that rely heavily on maths. I'll also try to convince you that there are areas in maths for example projective geometry and for example the "classification of wallpaper patterns" using group theory that are inspired by art. No prerequisites.
