Simon Norton (Cambridge University)
Wednesday 14th October, 2009 16:00-17:00 Mathematics Building, Room 204
Abstract
A Net is a geometrical structure associated with a cluster of triples of 6-transpositions in the Monster simple group. I published the papers "Netting the Monster" in 1998 and "Counting Nets in the Monster" in 2003. Most of the talk will summarise the contents of these papers, but I will also be reporting on some new developments.
