Abstract
Hopf solitons are string-like topological solitons in three-dimensional space which are stabilized by a linking number of field lines. Hopf solitons in two different models will be considered. The first is the Skyrme-Faddeev model, where I shall describe how stable static solutions can form a variety of knots and links. The second is the Landau-Lifshitz equation, which models the dynamics of a ferromagnet, where Hopf solitons form vortex rings.
