Abstract

In joint work with Alexei Skorobogatov we proved Schinzel's Hypothesis for 100% of cases and gave applications to the arithmetic of surfaces. Schinzel's Hypothesis gives necessary and sufficient assumptions for an integer polynomial to take infinitely many prime values when the variable ranges over all integers. It is only known for linear polynomials. I will explain Schinzel's Hypothesis, its history and briefly sketch the main ideas of the proof.
