Abstract
When I stand at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and look up, I see the names of mathematicians. When I stand at the foot of Big Ben, I see none. Mathematicians should not be afraid to be, or apologise for being, a mathematician. Mathematicians must know their value and worth in any arena they enter.
In this talk I will discuss lessons learnt from my mathematical journeys, from Academia to Industry, from Engineering to Retail, and finally from debating with Radio DJs and to challenging leading politicians. As a mathematics community we not only need to build a powerful mathematical identity, we need to embrace it!
