Abstract
One of the classical branches of cobordism is concerned with manifolds with a symplectic structure on their stable normal bundle. Homotopy theory has been a useful tool for calculating many a bordism ring, however, a complete determination of symplectic bordism has not yet been accomplished. We will discuss a chromatic approach to such a determination, which involves the systematic destruction of information in order to simplify our calculations. We present new results on the first of these simplifications, the so-called K(1)-localisation.
The talk will be preceded by a tea time at 3:45pm. The Zoom link for the seminar is https://uofglasgow.zoom.us/j/91412568415 and the passcode is the genus of the two-dimensional sphere (4 letters, all lowercase).
