Abstract
The reconstruction of ancestral echolocation calls is an important part of understanding the evolutionary history of bats. Phylogenetic Gaussian processes (PGPs) provide a framework for the ancestral reconstruction of function-valued traits such as echolocation calls. Here, we extend the PGP to a Phylogenetic Gaussian Process - Latent Variable Model (PGP-LVM). Inference is shown to recover model parameters for data simulated under the model and the application of this model to bat echolocation calls is discussed.
