A Mathematical Introduction to Sound Synthesis

Abstract
Over the past 120 years electronic synthesis of sound has become so ubiquitous in music that it's hard to find a genre that doesn't have some kind of electronically influenced branch. By presenting the basic methods of synthesis, focusing on some specific mathematical implementations of subtractive synthesis (the basis for nearly every synthesizer since the 60s) and dropping some phat licks on a microKORG, I hope to introduce what I find to be a fascinatingly rich topic, both mathematically and musically.
