Abstract
In this talk, we will explore the fundamentals of game theory - the mathematical study of competition and cooperation between rational decision makers. We begin with a consideration of what "rational" means in this context, by studying the construction of Dutch books under faulty probabilistic assumptions. We then move on to set up mathematical models of games of both competitive and cooperative varieties, and work towards the landmark equilibrium theorems for certain types of game.
