Q: Once I graduate with a law degree, am I qualified to work as a lawyer?
A: No. If you wish to enter the Scottish legal profession you must first complete the post-graduate Diploma in Professional Legal Practice. This is a one year course and is offered by the University of Glasgow. If you wish to become a qualified solicitor you then have to undertake a two-year traineeship with a law firm. Additional training will be necessary if you wish to become an advocate.
