Frequently asked questions
Q: Which law degree is right for me?
A: We offer a range of LLB programmes. Your choice of degree will depend on if you are a first time student or already possess a first degree, and whether you plan to practice within Scotland or in another jurisdiction once you qualify.
Please see our 'Which law degree is right for you?' illustration for further guidance.
Scots Law LLB
If you intend to practice in Scotland as a solicitor or advocate you should apply for the Scots Law LLB.
If you already hold an Undergraduate degree, you may apply for the two-year fast-track Scots Law LLB.
Common Law LLB
If you intend to practice law in a Common Law jurisdiction such as England & Wales, Eire, Canada, USA, or India you should apply for the Common Law LLB.
We offer a four-year Common Law LLB degree, as well as a two-year accelerated Common Law LLB for those who already hold an undergraduate degree.
Common Law LLB + LLM
If the jurisdiction you plan to practice in requires three years study for bar admission, we also offer a combined two-year Common Law LLB and LLM programme.
