Research interests
Dr. Pauline McBride is a Scottish solicitor, formerly a partner at the law firm, bto (Glasgow and Edinburgh). She has many years experience in professional legal practice in both contentious and non-contentious work, specialising in software licencing, IP, data protection and commercial contracts.
She studied law at the University of Glasgow and in 2016 she received her doctorate from the University of Glasgow, where she defended her thesis 'Beyond Copyright: The Annexation of Looking by Contract'. She teaches at the University of Glasgow and at Queen’s University, Belfast.
Dr. McBride is a member of CREATe and a member of the Law Society of Scotland’s Technology Committee. Her areas of interest include the intersection of copyright and contract law, laws relating to access to and use of information, computer forensics and data protection. She has niche expertise in relation to prosecutions under the UK’s Data Protection Act.
