Empirical socio-legal research
The School of Law has an important and growing reputation for its expertise in empirical socio-legal studies. Socio-legal studies are a broad field, encompassing a wide range of theoretical and empirical perspectives, and this diversity is reflected in the research carried out by academics and postgraduate researchers within the School. Our staff have expertise in a range of quantitative and qualitative methodologies, investigating legal issues using the methods and approaches of social sciences across the doctrinal boundaries of private law, public law, and criminal law.
The School welcomes applications for postgraduate study from students planning to use empirical methods and offers support and training for students both within the School and the College of Social Sciences.
