The Stair Society offers an annual bursary of £3000 to a postgraduate student in the fourth year of completing a PhD, to facilitate the completion of a PhD thesis in the history of Scots law, broadly understood. At the time of application eligible postgraduates will be registered at a UK or Irish university, will normally have completed no more than three years of full-time doctoral study, or be at an equivalent stage of part-time study, and will be expected to satisfy a judging panel that their thesis will be submitted during the academic year following the award of the Bursary.
