Research in intellectual property
Intellectual Property Law at the University of Glasgow focuses specifically on digital technology and the creative industries, and is a part of the research portfolio of the CREATe Research Centre (along with the Competition Law research theme).
Our academic colleagues concentrate their expert research on topics such as copyright, trademark, patent law and related issues in technology and information law.
The award we received in 2012 jointly from three UK Research Councils (AHRC, ESRC,EPSRC) recognised CREATe as the national copyright centre and the School of Law as the leading destination for interdisciplinary research at the intersection of the domains of Creativity, Technology and Markets. Our current major infrastructure award from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) 2024 - 2028 has enabled CREATe to broaden its focus and address a full range of digital policy issues, as the Centre for Regulation of the Creative Economy.
