Research in intellectual property

Intellectual Property Law at the University of Glasgow has a particular focus on digital technology and the creative industries.

The award of the national Research Council UK copyright hub CREATe in 2012 recognised the Law School as the leading destination for interdisciplinary research at the junction of technology, social science and law.

A subsequent major infrastructure award by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) from 2023 - 2028 has enabled CREATe to widen its focus to include copyright law, competition law and technology law, addressing a full range of digital policy issues, as the Centre for Regulation of the Creative Economy.

Individual academics retain their own research agendas across the full range of intellectual property scholarship, including copyright, trademark and patent law.
