The Corporate and Financial Law Research Group organised a workshop on "Legal issues and perspectives on fintech" on 6th February 2020. The event brought together experts from industry and academia with the aim to discuss the potentials of financial technology for business and regulators. It was attended by people from industry, Postgraduate students, researchers and academics from different universities across the UK.

After the welcome speech by Professor Esser, guest speakers had the opportunity to comment on their work and research findings within two panels. A stimulating discussion followed the presentations.

The first panel on Business models on Fintech was chaired by the head of our research group, Professor Iain MacNeil. Speakers were:

The second panel discussion, moderated by Dr Javier Solana, revolved around the development of a regulatory framework on Fintech. We had the pleasure to welcome:

Professor Emilios Avgouleas (University of Edinburgh), who commented on "The Concept of Money in the 4th Industrial Revolution";

Professor Luca Enriques (University of Oxford), who presented on "Bank-Fintech Cooperation and the case for a mentorship regime";
