School of Law alumus Ryan McCuaig recently addressed donors to the University of Glasgow’s postgraduate Talent Scholarship fund, to tell them about the work that the scholarship makes possible and his own journey into law.

Ryan McCuaig is a recent graduate of the School of Law’s Diploma in Professional Legal Practice programme and now a trainee solicitor at Thorntons Law LLP.  He is also Chair of the Board of ‘Who Cares? Scotland’, a charity which provides advocacy, connection opportunities and campaigning for young people in care and Care Experienced people.

Speaking to the University’s alumni donors, Ryan shared his reflections on his upbringing in a deprived area in Glasgow and how the law was something that happened to members of his community, with little sense of agency over the workings of the law.  He hopes that in his professional role he will now be able to provide a voice to others.
