The School of Infection & Immunity held an induction event for our latest cohort of Postgraduate Research students (PGR) on Thursday, 10 October 2024, marking the beginning of their academic journey.
The event aimed to integrate new researchers into the Sii community and provide them with essential resources for their studies.
As part of the induction, the Sii Professional Services Team developed a new PGR Induction Guide, which provides an overview of the groups working within the Sir Graeme Davies Building.
This was created in line with an existing guide for our MRC-Centre for Virus Research (CVR) students.
Thanks to those who provided information for this guide; if your group is not represented and you would like to be included, please email sii-pgr@glasgow.ac.uk.
Head of School Professor Julia Edgar said: "Our school hosts a diverse team of researchers, working towards enhancing understanding of pathogens and the immune system, with which our PGR students interact.
"They are now a member of this team of scientists and their research project will aim to extend current knowledge of some aspect of these systems.
"The skills, leadership, resilience, and friends that they acquire along the way will impact their future career, regardless of the direction that takes.
"All of our academics will remember the start of their research careers and will be keen to support our PGRs on this challenging and exciting journey.
“We welcome our new cohort to their studies and can’t wait to see what they achieve now that they're here. Good luck and enjoy!”
