Our regular events
In addition to various ad hoc events throughout the year, we deliver or take part in a number of events annually, including schools’ events, science festivals, public talks, workshops and training courses.
- March/April - British Science Week - Parasitology/Microbiology school visits & university workshops for P6/P7 pupils from local schools
- May - Pint of Science - informal science/research talks in local pubs aimed at the general public
- June - Glasgow Science Festival - Microbiology Disease Detectives lab aimed at S5/S6 pupils and Science Sunday exhibits suitable for all the family
- July/August - Middle Eastern Biology of Parasitism (MeBOP) course for students and early career researchers from the Middle East or North or sub-Saharan Africa (pictured, top)
- September - Explorathon (European Researchers’ Night) exhibits at Glasgow Science Centre aimed at families and the general public
- October - Middle of Scotland Science Festival (MossFest) - exhibits at Mugdock Park e.g. Rheumatosphere suitable for the general public; Glasgow Science Centre’s Education Programme ‘Applications of DNA Technology workshop’ aimed at secondary school pupils
- November - Advanced Higher Biology parasitology labs held at Glasgow Gaelic School for S6 pupils from various Glasgow schools
- December - 'How do I engage the public with my research’ training course with iii staff & students
