Obtaining Ethical Approval
Obtaining Ethical Approval
Research involving human subjects, human material or data is subject to strict controls.
Ethical approval for all non-clinical research involving human subjects, whether undertaken by University staff, students or by external researchers using University facilities or participants, should be sought from the appropriate Ethics Committee.
Approval for clinical research must be obtained from a NHS Research Ethics Committee under the Department of Health/NHS framework.
Only after specific approval for the programme of research has been granted by the appropriate Ethics Committee can the work be started.
