Archival research
Research into Wallibou’s past include studying St. Vincent archives at various physical and virtual locations including but not limited to the (United Kingdom) National Archives, Kew, London, UK and digitised deed books, wills, and Power of Attorney located online at Endangered Archives Programme.
Additional assistance with archival research provided Taylar Carty.
Taylar Carty is doctoral student at University of Glasgow, funded by James McCune Smith phd scholarship. For her PhD, she aims to build upon her research on enslaved children and explore the lives of enslaved Black girls in Barbados from 1750-1838. It aims to construct a picture of their day-to day lives through case studies and fragmental documents in the colonial archive. Using various methodologies that centre the enslaved voice, Taylar's research will display enslaved girl children as individuals with unique experiences and showcase Black girlhood as a methodological approach to investigate the lives of enslaved people in the Caribbean.
