Stuart is working in the UKRI-funded RESPECT project
Stuart Munro started in Archaeology in early February working as a Geospatial Technician in Archaeology on the UKRI-funded RESPECT project investigating land-use in respect to Net Zero by analysing the use of peatlands through time. He has a background in archaeological fieldwork having worked in development-led archaeology for several years which has taken him across the UK and Ireland. More specifically he has an interest and experience in archaeological fieldwork methodology (including excavation and survey), remote sensing primarily employing drone-based survey solutions, digital landscape modelling, and GIS and spatial analysis.
He has previously employed these methods on a wide variety of sites from Lincolnshire to Shetland working on small- to large-scale projects dating from the Mesolithic to the post-Medieval. He has led several projects including the excavation of a late Iron Age/early historic site in Edinburgh and an Iron Age metalworking site in Lanarkshire.
As part of the RESPECT project, Stuart will be working within the Firth of Forth and Humber Catchments, working closely with Professor Nicki Whitehouse, Dr Phil Barratt and other colleagues across the project.
