Dr Kenny Brophy: 8000 years before Dunning: revisiting the 2012-2017 phase 2 SERF excavations
In this seminar Kenny will explore some of the most significant discoveries of the second phase of the Strathearn and Environs and Royal Forteviot (SERF) project, as monographs reporting on this work near completion. Drawing on the work of a team of collaborators, he’ll focus on key case-studies including a Mesolithic pit alignment, evidence for Neolithic farming, the identification of a Neolithic hilltop enclosure, working with a large assemblage of prehistoric ceramics, and rare traces of lowland Iron Age settlement in Perth and Kinross. He’ll also share some of the challenges, pleasures and surprises of writing up such a large campaign of fieldwork.
All welcome
