Geophysical Survey
Preliminary geophysical surveys within Forteviot village were undertaken in 2006 and 2007. The main results of these investigations highlighted the traces of an earlier post-medieval town plan in the centre of the village and several other possible structures in the northeast corner of the village and near the Manse. An extensive area was surveyed at Haly Hill– traditionally thought to have been the site of the palace. Although this survey revealed no significant archaeological features, the results had been significantly affected by recent agricultural practices.
