Launch of Press Start, a new student-led game studies journal
Press Start is a new open access, peer-reviewed student journal that publishes the best undergraduate and postgraduate research, essays and dissertations from across the multidisciplinary subject of game studies. The Editorial Board and Reviewers are comprised of students and recent graduates.
The launch event will be held at 4pm in the University of Glasgow’s Melville Room on Friday 28th November 2014. The event will feature a talk by Dr Esther McCallum-Stewart, Research Fellow at the University of West England's Digital Cultures Research Centre, and Senior Lecturer in Digital Media Arts at the University of Surrey. Esther will speak about the importance of encouraging informed academic writing about video games, particularly in light of the recent #gamergate controversy.
Supported by funding from the New Initiatives Fund, refreshments will be provided.
